Measures to Support Accessibility

Assessment Approach
Survivor Justice Center assessed the accessibility of Survivor Justice Center.ORG by the following approaches:
- External evaluation: We engaged the services of 1984Designs.com (link opens in new tab) to review, audit and adapt our existing web content to try to conform with WCAG 2.1 standards.
Some of the Measures Taken to Increase Accessibility are Found Below (but are not limited to):
- Having easy to navigate alt text for all web images
- Having clear, high contrast text wherever possible
- Providing html labels for form input fields
- Making our contact information easily available so that our web visitors can seek assistance when needed
- Creating a navigable sitemap that clearly shows the organization of our website
- Having clearly defined links and link text
- Complete audit of website in March 2020 by outside web development firm to asses accessibility and edit to bring into compliance with WCAG 2.1
- Training of staff to make sure they can fill any website accessibility gaps for users when needed
- Including code to work with screen readers
- Entire structure of the site was analyzed and adapted so that core information and services can be easily accessed by users of all abilities
- Custom contact forms were created that meet WCAG standards
- Included audio/visual transcript for homepage video
- Edited outbound link text so that it is properly identified
- Edited all link text to be easily read
- Included new navigation in footer so Accessibility and Sitemap can be accessed
