Survivor Justice Center provides free immigration legal representation for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our services cover various forms of relief, including VAWA, U Visas, T Visas, and removal defense, helping clients obtain stability, work permits, and lawful permanent residency.
Am I eligible for immigration relief?
If you are an immigrant who has been harmed by a family member or another person in your life, you may qualify for immigration relief. This relief can help you obtain a work permit, lawful permanent residency (green card), and even citizenship.
What if I’m scared to reach out for help?
It’s completely normal to feel afraid, but you should know that you may have legal options that allow you to stay in the United States with your family and without fear of deportation. Speaking to a free immigration lawyer at Survivor Justice Center can help you understand your options safely.
What if the person who harmed me says I have no rights because I’m undocumented?
That is not true. Laws exist in the United States to protect survivors of crime, regardless of immigration status. You may qualify for immigration relief independent of the person who harmed you.
What kinds of immigration programs are available for survivors?
Survivors may qualify for several different immigration programs, including:
- VAWA – For survivors of domestic violence harmed by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse, parent, or adult child
- U Visa – For survivors of violent crimes who cooperate with law enforcement
- T Visa – For survivors of human trafficking involving force, fraud, or coercion
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) – For youth up to age 21 who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected
- Adjustment of Status – For VAWA, U Visa, T Visa, and SIJS applicants eligible for permanent residency
- DACA – For individuals who arrived in the U.S. as children and attended school here
- Removal Defense – For survivors who are or have been in deportation proceedings before an Immigration Judge
How can Survivor Justice Center help me?
Survivor Justice Center can provide a free immigration lawyer who can represent you in your immigration case. Our legal team can help you take important steps to gain stability and access the protections you qualify for. If you are struggling financially, you may also become eligible for public benefits to support your family—even before you receive a work permit.
What benefits can I receive after my immigration petition is approved?
Once certain immigration petitions are approved, you may be able to obtain:
- A work permit
- A valid Social Security number
- An unrestricted driver’s license or state ID
These benefits can help you rebuild safety, independence, and stability.
Do I have rights even if I’m undocumented?
Yes. Everyone living in the United States has rights, no matter their immigration status. Survivor Justice Center provides “Know Your Rights” materials in English and Spanish to help you protect yourself, your family, and your community.
